December Member Spotlight: Debbie Cebular

When Debbie Cebular learned of her thyroid cancer diagnosis in spring of 2017, her focus after a healthy recovery from a successful surgery sprung to two things: Maintaining her energy and strength throughout her day-to-day, and doing what she loves most – cycling.

Cebular, a Body Zone member for the last three-and-a-half years, enjoys taking spin classes at least three times a week and mixing in a basic yoga class for stretching and keeping herself relaxed, but what she’s latched on to after her cancer diagnosis is every cycling class’s ability to make her a stronger and healthier person than before.

She credits an “overall energy and camaraderie of the spin classes” as not only what she enjoys most about being at Body Zone, but also as a driver for keeping her focused on her goals. Debbie isn’t just biking to bike. She’s planning on doing a Century ride – a 100 mile bike – sometime in the near future. And she’s already successfully completed a Metric Century ride (62 miles!) this past September, just months after her cancer diagnosis. The Century ride is in her crosshairs, and even after doctors told her lifestyle and well-being may very well be affected by the outcome of her surgery, she’s continued to pull through with determination and stride. Her cycling and fitness goals are an inspiration to us all
