What it does
This dynamic exercise mimics golf swing mechanics. Keeping
the ball away from the body will help keep the arms
straighter through the back swing and create more width in
the golf swing which will increase power at impact.
Why it’s important
This exercise utilizes core stabilization, balance, and
flexibility. All are very important traits to have in a
proper golf swing.
How to do it
Start the exercise by getting into a comfortable golf set up
position. Hold the Swiss ball at an angle you would hold
your club. Rotate the upper body as you would on a back
swing until your lead arm is parallel with the ground,
pausing at that point and come back down to impact position.
It is important to keep the arms straight and a maximum
distance between your chest and the ball.
Recommended: 3 sets of 20 repetitions
Progress this exercise by standing on an unstable surface
(ex. half foam roller or bosu ball)
This
exercise and more, plus professional golf instruction, are
all part of our
golf condition program, this spring at Body Zone.
