Youth soccer training by Reading United looks like this

Please watch this 45-second video from a soccer academy program to get an idea how Reading United’s Player Development Program (PDP), open to anyone, addresses individual player’s needs for skills and tactics like: ball mastery, shooting, offensive and defensive principles and game situations.

The video is fast-paced, which mirrors how the PDP addresses the needs we listed.  Reading United’s Colin Kent said it integrates constant repetition at a fast pace based on activities and drills from the training manuals of top European clubs like Manchester United, Liverpool and Real Madrid; Actual practice plans utilized by Reading United’s PDL club; U.S. Soccer’s Best Practices for Coaching Soccer in the United States player development guidelines.

“Week after week, seeing the enjoyment and the progression of the kids is really what is most meaningful for me,” Kent said.  “Whether it is a child who has played two years or six years, we are looking for that individual progression throughout the program and that’s what our sessions are designed around.”
