What is Girls on the Run (GOTR)?

Girls on the Run® is a life-changing, character development and prevention program for girls in grades 3-5. The program creatively integrates running/ walking into a 12-week curriculum that includes lessons on self-esteem, peer pressure, gossiping, bullying, healthy eating, working as part of a team, and giving back to the community. The program culminates in a non-competitive 5K run/walk event.

What are the goals of GOTR?

The goals of GOTR are to encourage positive emotional, social, mental, and physical development. Girls on the Run empowers girls to believe in themselves, to live a fit and healthy lifestyle, to make wise decisions, to avoid at-risk activities, and to give back to the community.

When and where at Body Zone?

The GOTR program is delivered by trained volunteer coaches who are Body Zone staff members. We’ll utilize our indoor running track, studio spaces and more.

How much does it cost?

The fee per girl to participate in the program is $150; however, financial assistance will be provided to any girl unable to pay the full fee. Financial assistance is made available during the time of registration and is based on annual household income. Please contact Laura Waetjen, program director, with any questions.

Why is there a fee?

The $150 fee helps to cover the costs we incur to run the program such as coach training, CPR/First Aid training, curriculum and lesson materials, 5K expenses, liability insurance, etc. Each girl will receive a program t-shirt, 5K t-shirt, 5K finishers medal, 5K registration, a Grown-Up guide for parents, and a lifetime of confidence and the power to walk tall!
